As a matter of fact that is the opening of the Bushwick open studios. You are more than welcome to come, but the studio has been cleaned and turned into an ad-hoc exhibition space with someone else's work also being shown. I've come up with an idea I am in love with, but just sort of need to figure out how to make it. Please come by!

Hey Jerry,

I hope this email finds you well.

Paige, Leah and I are looking forward to "Summer Session." We've been working on a plan of action and would love to have a studio visit with you, if possible.

Since you've come to the gallery and seen how our team works, we would love to be able to see how you work and where you work, the pieces in person, etc. This will help us get a better sense of how to focus our energy during the time you are spending with us this summer.

If you are free next Friday, June 5th--in the afternoon (4ish?), that would work for us.

Best,
Rebecca

Hi Jerry and Ira,

We are so excited to meet you and discuss your participation in "Summer Session."

We would love for the both of you to join us on next Friday, May 22 for our next opening. Coming to the opening will give you a great sense of the energy that our gallery is all about. The opening is at 8 pm, but if you could make it an hour or two before it would provide us with the opportunity to talk and get to know each other a little bit before diving into Summer Session. Start thinking about what you would like to create during Summer Session and feel free to email us with any questions!

Best,

Jerry Blackman & Ira Eduardovna

It is our pleasure to announce that Ira Eduardovna and Jerry Blackman have been selected as our “Summer Session” artists.

Ira Eduardovna’s exploration of video was exceptionally intimate yet accessible. We look forward to seeing how her experimentation in pushing the boundaries of video evolves.

Jerry Blackman’s work struck us as a refreshing contemporary take on incorporating symbolism and iconography. Latent with a very current view or ageless visuals, Jerry Blackman’s work carries on an identity that is youthful and inquisitive. We are intrigued to see him prosper.

We are excited to see what Ms. Eduardovna and Mr. Blackman create over the next weeks. As well, we are thrilled to know we will have opportunities to work with other new artists in years to come.

Update 5/18/09: Due to scheduling conflicts, Ira Eduardovna is unable to participate in the entire Summer Session Program. Please check out her site to read further developments on this fantastic emerging artist: http://www.iragallery.com/gallery.html
